Reaching Victims Killed 116 People

Monster tornado that hit the city of Joplin, Missouri, United States, has claimed 116 lives until Monday (23/05/2011). Based on federal government records, this is the single most deadly tornado in 60 years. This giant tornado also makes 2011 as the deadliest year since 1953.Tornadoes that swept Joplin magnitude EF4 categorized, ranked second in the tornado caused damage. The speed reaches 267 to 321 miles per hour. With nearly 1.6 kilometers in diameter funnel, a tornado is made as wide as 9.5 mile path which divides the town.
Almost nothing remains of Joplin. Tornado that hit each building, including hospitals, and slammed the car. The looks of the city's only tree that no longer leaves.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon was "optimistic that many lives could be saved." However, the authorities warned the death toll could rise as rescue teams are still working. The task becomes more severe due to heavy rain occurred on Monday morning accompanied by strong winds.
According to Jasper County Emergency Management Director Keith Stammer, about 2,000 buildings ruask. Joplin Fire Department Chief Mitch Randles said, a quarter or more parts of the city with a population of 50,000 people was destroyed.
Police stationed at every major crossroad of the city. Ambulance transport fro injured victims, while rescue teams went to each house to search for victims. They must move cautiously so as not to get caught or broken electrical cable sharp objects.
Governor Nixon expressed concern that the death toll would continue to rise. Nevertheless, he expects some residents safely behind the ruins of the building.
"We have not stopped counting. Given the size of collapsed buildings and the number of people involved in search efforts, I am sure there are many people who could be saved," said Nixon.
Search and Rescue team found many corpses inside a car that overturned, split, even wrecked like empty cans. Residents who survived are now evacuated to temporary shelters which now began to exceed capacity.
