Nvidia has announced their plans to release a processor that can run Microsoft Windows operating system 8. In a conference call with investors about their financial results this quarter Nvidia, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated that he was looking forward to see the Nvidia chip running Windows 8 on the desktops and laptops. Huang said: We really look forward to Windows 8 for the first half of next year.
This comment came out after good financial results for Nvidia. They announced that Nvidia had revenues of U.S. $ 1.017 billion for the second quarter ended June 30. This is greater than the same quarter the previous year of U.S. $ 811.2 million. Nvidia produces a net profit of U.S. $ 151.6 million this quarter, much better than last year lost $ 141 million for the same quarter.
At the conference, Huang also praised the 'Kal-El', quad-core chip for smartphones and laptops that are scheduled to be launched by year end. He said, 'Kal-El has a much better performance than the Tegra 2 and spending power is much lower.
